BOSTON — The Boston Bruins said Monday that goalie Tuukka Rask will be out 4 to 6 weeks with a lower abdomen/groin strain.

Rask was hurt in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Islanders.

The Bruins signed goalie Marty Turco to a one-year deal.

The former Dallas and Chicago goalie needs to clear waivers before he can join the Bruins.

If Turco clears waivers, he will join the Bruins on Wednesday. Turco won’t be eligible for the playoffs because he was signed after last week’s NHL trade deadline.

Turco, 36, has a 273-165-43 record with a .910 save percentage, a 2.35 goals-against average and 41 shutouts in his career.

Turco most recently played for EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian First Division this year.

NOTES: The Senators recalled Ben Bishop, a former UMaine goalie, from the club’s AHL affiliate and reassigned fellow goalie Robin Lehner to Binghamton.
