Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rick Bennett turned in more than 2,700 nomination petition signatures to the Secretary of State’s Office on Monday, his campaign said.

Bennett’s manager, Chris Jackson, said the signatures will ensure that Bennett’s name appears on the June Republican primary ballot.

Bennett, who lives in Oxford, is currently chief executive officer for GMI Ratings, a research firm headquartered in Portland.

Bennett is running for the Congresssional seat that will become vacant once incumbent Olympia Snowe retires.
