Caring Unlimited, York County’s Domestic Violence Resource Center, was recently awarded a $500 donation from the Beacon Charitable Corporation.

The donation will be used to support victims of domestic violence, who are working to make a fresh start.

For the past 11 years, the Beacon Charitable Corporation has been working to support community agencies that provide individuals with additional financial support where supplemental aid was needed.

The Western Maine Board of Realtors and the Maine Association of Realtors Foundation recently donated $901 to Community Concepts for the Keep ME Warm Fund.

The fund raises money to help people who may not be eligible for limited federal, state or local fuel assistance programs.

PORTLAND

Irving Oil donated tickets to Junior Achievement of Maine for the March 17 Portland Pirates hockey.
During pregame ceremonies, winners of the 2012 Junior Achievement Titan Challenge were recognized and received a $1,000 scholarship to the post secondary education of their choice.

BRIDGTON

The 17th annual Moonlight Charity Challenge at Shawnee Peak helped raise more than $23,000 for Camp Sunshine in Casco.

The March 11 event was hosted by Shawnee Peak and the Homer Family and sponsored by Downeast Energy.

Funds were raised through the sale of raffle tickets with prizes including $3,500 in cash, prime Red Sox tickets and a season pass to Shawnee Peak. In an act of generosity, the winners of both top prizes donated them back to Camp Sunshine.

The event has raised more than $250,000 for Camp Sunshine since 2002. The funds are used to help the Camp support and expand its winter and spring programming.
