OLD TOWN (AP) — Police say a University of Maine student has been killed in a single vehicle accident in Old Town.

Police said 19-year-old Timothy Dodge, of Rockland, was driving toward the university campus in Orono at about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday when his car veered off U.S. Route 2 and struck a tree.

Police said it appeared he was killed instantly.
