STANDISH
— Saint Joseph’s College has canceled afternoon classes and athletic contests so students can attend a memorial service in Bangor for a varsity basketball player who died in a weekend car crash.
The Bangor Daily News reports that a public service for Clark Noonan is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bangor Baptist Church. Visiting hours are 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.
The 20-year-old Bangor native was a sophomore business major and basketball player who died early Saturday morning when the car he was a passenger in went off the road not far from the college’s Standish campus and rolled over several times.
Three other people in the car, including the driver, survived.
Police say speed was a factor but have not filed any charges.
