BATH — Award-winning restaurant Solo Bistro has announced it will start serving lunch on Tuesday, according to a news release.

Well known throughout the region for the quality of its food and service at dinner, Solo Bistro’s announcement comes after a trial run during Maine Restaurant Week in March.

Co-owner Pia Neilson said, “The positive response to lunch during restaurant week was surprisingly strong. When Solo Bistro opened seven years ago, we served lunch for the first 15 or 16 months, but it didn’t seem to be going anywhere. We dropped it so we could concentrate on dinner, where our eclectic culinary philosophy seemed to have a larger audience. But as our reputation for great food has grown, more and more customers have been asking us to serve lunch, too, so we finally decided to try it again.”

Pia’s spouse and business partner Will Neilson said, “Among the eight to 12 entrees we offer on any given night, there’s always a steak, a burger, a fish, a fowl and a vegetarian option on the menu. With the current lineup in the kitchen, we might take a classical French or Italian approach, or maybe an Asian or Caribbean one, to any given food — but always using fresh ingredients, from local suppliers when we can get them. Lunch will use the same bold and broad palate of flavors and ingredients with a little lighter touch, with something for pretty much every taste.”

Solo Bistro will serve lunch Tuesday through Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner from 5 p.m. to closing. In the high season, service will be daily.

Solo Bistro’s fixed price dinners, including the popular $17.99 Wednesday special, will not be affected by the advent of lunch, nor will Friday Night Jazz.
