READING, Pa. — Matt Spring and Reynaldo Rodriguez homered in a five-run sixth inning as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the Reading Phillies 8-5 in Eastern League play tonight at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Sea Dogs have won the first two games of the three-game series.

The homers helped pick up former No. 1 pick Anthony Ranaudo, who had a shaky first inning in his Double-A debut.

Ranaudo, making his first start of the season since a spring training groin injury, went four innings, allowing four hits and four runs.

Sebastian Valle and Miguel Abreu homered off Ranaudo in a three-run fourth.

Jeremy Kehrt (1-0) earned the win, allowing three hits and a run over four innings.

Drew Naylor (2-1) took the loss, allowing five hits and six runs over five innings.
