BATH — Join Bath Trails for a work day on a portion of the Whiskeag Trail on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in recognition of National Trails Day. The work will include redirecting part of the Whiskeag Trail that connects the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s Thorne Head Preserve to Sewall Woods Preserve.

National Trails Day, initiated in 1993, is the only nationwide celebration of trails. It aims to raise awareness of trails in communities, celebrate the hard work and dedication of organizations and volunteers to maintain trails to enjoy, and introduce people to the delights and benefits of trails.

Volunteers are needed to help with trail maintenance and to pick-up debris along the new trail corridor. Participants should meet at Detritus Drive in Bath with work gloves, sturdy footwear, water, and a snack.

Due to the strenuous work load, this work day is recommended for adults and young adults ages 14 years and older. A light rain will not cancel this event.
