CARRABASSETT VALLEY — A well-known ski academy in western Maine is holding a groundbreaking ceremony to signal the start of construction on its new academic center.
Today’s ceremony at Carrabassett Valley Academy also marks the beginning of the second phase of the school’s $7 million New Campus fundraising campaign, which was launched last October and will result in an entirely new campus for the school.
When it’s completed, the academic center will include 14 classrooms, two science labs, a music room and art studio, plus study space for students and administrative facilities
CVA was founded in 1983 and is located in Carrabassett Valley near Sugarloaf ski resort.
Some of America’s top skiers and snowboarders through the years have attended the academy, including Bode Miller, Seth Wescott and Kirsten Clark.
