PINKHAM NOTCH, N.H. — Mount Washington, known as the “home of the world’s worst weather,” has received a few inches of snow less than three weeks before the official start of summer.

The mountain in New Hampshire can have winter any time of year, but even weather observers at the summit say this is unusual for June.

It’s cold, too. Observer Rebecca Scholand tells WMUR-TV on Tuesday the wind makes it feel like 16 degrees outside.

The highest peak in the Northeast is 6,288 feet.
