RICHMOND, Va. — The Portland Sea Dogs again received a strong pitching performance from Drake Britton and benefited from some timely hitting in the eighth inning to beat Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-2 on Friday night.

Britton allowed two runs in six innings, and Chorye Spoone and Josh Fields combined to shut down the Squirrels the rest of the way.

With the score tied in the top of the eighth, Juan Carlos Linares and Bryce Brentz reached on infield singles, and Dan Butler and Peter Hissey delivered back-to-back, two-out RBI singles.

Spoone pitched a perfect eighth, and Fields did the same in the ninth, striking out Nick Liles to end the game.
