PORTLAND — The Maine Turnpike Authority has scheduled two more meetings to hear public opinion on its proposed toll increases.

The agency that oversees the 109-mile toll highway held public hearings in Auburn, Portland and Saco this week on its plan to hike tolls to cover the operating budget, maintenance and long-term debt service.

The authority says the public can voice their opinions at additional hearings on July 9 in York and on July 11 in Wells.

Ten toll hike options are now under consideration.

The authority’s preferred option is to add $1 to the toll plaza in York, 75 cents in New Gloucester and West Gardiner, and 50 cents each at the Wells northbound and Gray southbound toll plazas. E-ZPass rates would also go up.
