KITTERY — A portion of the Kittery Trading Post parking lot was cordoned off this morning following a report of a suspicious package.

Kittery Police said a witness reported an unidentified male had placed a briefcase upright in the parking lot at about 9:25 a.m. before driving off.

Maine State Police brought in a bomb sniffing dog whose response was negative for the presence of explosives.

The briefcase was found to be empty. The Kittery Trading Post continued to operate during the incident.

No one was hurt.
