EDINBURG — An investigation has been launched after a Maine state trooper shot a man police described as “suicidal and homicidal.”
Authorities say police responded to a home in the central Maine community of Edinburg at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday to find a man outside his home, armed with a knife and making threats.
Police say there was a confrontation and state Trooper Chris Hashey shot the man, identified as 54-year-old Warren Dome.
Dome was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he was in serious but stable condition.
Hashey has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure when an officer discharges his weapon.
