To the Editor:
What do the Professional Firefighters Union, George Mitchell, Equality Maine, Maine Conservation Voters, the Maine Educators Association and Chellie Pingree have in common?
They, like many others, have endorsed Mattie Daughtry, Democrat for House District 66.
Although I am not in her district, I’d like to champion her too. I have known Mattie both personally and in professional contexts since she was a young adult. Over the years, I’ve consistently admired her dedication to the common good. Her urge to serve is rooted in a keen intellect and willingness to inform herself on the issues. She stands up for what she believes in while listening carefully to the opinions of others. She has a strong commitment to progressive values. Mattie was up in Augusta for most of the 125th Legislature as legislative watchdog for Maine’s Majority, making her the candidate most likely to hit the ground ready to go. Mattie will make an effective advocate for her native Brunswick and for our state.
Please vote for Mattie Daughtry for the House.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
