I had the distinct pleasure of graduating from Brunswick High School with Mattie Daughtry, who is running for state representative District 66. Mattie is an intelligent, charismatic, and compassionate young woman who cares deeply for her community and knows the challenges facing Brunswick. I remember being in honors classes with Mattie at BHS, and remember always knowing that the position Mattie took in a debate was one that she believed in, and the strength of her conviction was always admirable. At the same time, she was never dismissive of the opposing views of others, and was always ready to listen and absorb the arguments of others, and use that information to inform her own views. Mattie’s experience in Augusta and her roots in Brunswick make her far and away the most qualified of the three candidates in the race.
