HARPSWELL — Louise Marion Knight, daughter of Arthur Alden and Grace Marion (Randall) Knight, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at her residence.

She was born at West Harpswell, ME, on March 4, 1922, attended local schools, and was graduated from Brunswick High School in the Class of 1939.

She worked locally until the end of WWII, when she and a high school classmate went to California where she was employed at Los Angeles for nearly four years. After her return to the east coast, she was employed as a secretary for companies in Boston and vicinity, and in Dover and Portsmouth, NH, until retirement in 1984 when she returned to Harpswell.

Her interests were classical music, opera, detective stories, histories, crossword puzzles, playing cards. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining her friends.

Her lifelong “pet peeve” was the misuse of the English Language, especially with the advent of the computer age, and she sounded off at the television whenever errors were made.

She compiled a vast amount of information regarding her ancestors, on both sides of her family, and in the process found many “cousins” who became lifelong friends.

She was predeceased by a brother, William Randall Knight who died in 1996, and a sister, Helen Marie Knight- Sheffer Barnett who died in 2008.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their children.

At her request, there will be no funeral. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick.
