WOOLWICH — Glenis J. Berry, 89, of Murphys Corner Road, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. She was born on September 20, 1923 in Staceyville, Maine the daughter of Fernald & Lalia (Black) Cunningham. She grew up in Hartland and graduated from Hartland Academy, class of 1941. After high school, Glenis went on to further her education graduating from Bliss College, class of 1943.

Glenis met her best friend Fred William “Bill” Berry and the couple were married in 1946, resided in Bath for a few short years and made their permanent home in Woolwich to raise their family.

Glenis worked at Canal Bank in the Portland and Bath offices for many years. She also worked at the Woolwich Central School as the secretary and returning to the financial world retired from bath Savings Bank at the age of 65.

Glenis was very family oriented, always putting her girls first. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them. She loved spending time with them and looked forward to the holidays. In her early years, square dancing was a favorite of hers, as well as camping and knitting. Spending time with friends warmed her heart; she and Edith Cunningham would sit and play cards for hours. Traveling to camp in Eustis, reading and bus trips were other passions of hers.

Church of Christ in

Bath.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1999 and brother Leland Cunningham. She leaves behind 2 daughters, Sara Connor and her husband Donald of Topsham and Nancy Hemingway and her husband Stephen of Woolwich; a brother, Keith Cunningham of Lewiston; grandchildren, Benjamin Connor Adam Connor and Erin Connor, Matthew Hemingway, Anne Hemingway and Sarah Hemingway; great grandchildren, Caitlin Taylor and Miah Hemingway and many friends at Horizons whose care enriched her life.

There will be no visiting hours. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath with interment to follow at Murphys Corner Cemetery.
