Just for Kids shopping day, 9 a.m. -1 p.m., at the South Portland Community Center. This is an opportunity for kids to shop for the holidays without their parents seeing what they buy. Home-baked goods, candy, crafts, RADA, gift baskets, jewelry, books, white elephant and decorated evergreen wreaths. Variety of local crafters, Santa, face painting, bake sale, ponies, raffle and homemade lunch to eat in or take out. Greenhouses open and stocked with poinsettas, holiday wreaths, and houseplants.

Coastal Community Christmas Fair, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at Peoples United Methodist Church, 310 Broadway, South Portland. Maine-made items, knits, candy, homemade baked goods, crafts, books, trash and treasure and more. Scarborough Historical Society meeting, at 7:30 p.m., at the society’s museum and meeting room located at 647 U.S. Route 1 (adjacent to the Dunstan Fire Station). Members will either relate an anecdote or discuss a personal keepsake that is a reminder of a specific event they each experienced at Christmas during any age. It is a night to share special stories, memories, artifacts and keepsakes of the Christmas season. Guests are welcome and may participate. If time permits, the evening will conclude with some carol singing and refreshments.
