Dayton resident Melanie Sughrue donates to a Salvation Army kettle outside the Christmas Tree Shops in South Portland last Friday afternoon as comics Bob Marley, center, and Tim Sample thank her for her contribution. Marley and Sample pitched in to rings bells outside the store and help the Salvation Army toward its goal of $160,000 in local donations. Salvation Army Sgt. Steve Ditmer said this year’s fundraising campaign began a week before Thanksgiving and will continue through Christmas Eve at about 16 locations.
