DAYTON — A Dayton man was killed Wednesday night after he fell about 80 feet from a manlift at an industrial site.

Shawn Hutchins, 41, was pronounced dead after first responders arrived at Dayton Sand and Gravel on Goodwin’s Mill Road, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called around 8:30 p.m. because of an injured male.

Hutchins was an employee of the company. The plant was not in operation at the time and it’s not clear why he was on the lift, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the death with the assistance of Maine State Police.

Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Stephen McCausland said the death is not considered suspicious.

“This is … just an unfortunate death,” he said.
