FROM LEFT, JON RICE, Village Improvement Association President Betsy Schmidt, Town Arborist Peter Baecher and Joey Smart plant one of two donated trees.

The Village Improvement Association donated two scarlet oak trees to the town of Brunswick for planting in the intown area.

The trees were planted Nov. 28 by Brunswick Parks & Recreation Department employees in esplanades at 216 Maine St. and 10 Pleasant St.

“As town arborist, I am very glad to receive this donation on behalf of the Parks & Recreation Department,” said Peter Baecher, a parks and facilities manager who also serves as town arborist.

“We are grateful to the VIA for their generosity, and hope these trees will grace the downtown for generations,” Baecher said.
