BRUNSWICK — In an effort to continually improve clinical practices and the quality of patient care, Mid Coast Hospital will be hosting an educational program focused on research and the use of evidence-based resources to make clinical decisions.

“Research Day: The Recipe for Success” will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Mid Coast Hospital Café Conference Room, located at 123 Medical Center Drive in Brunswick.

Through a series of presenters and a panel discussion, the event will provide education on the use of evidence-based resources, the protection of human participants, and strategies for linking knowledge acquired through schooling versus years of experience in practice. Participants will be awarded 2.75 continuing nursing education credits for attending.

Eira Kristiina Hyrkäs has been selected as the event’s keynote speaker. She is the director of the Center for Nursing Research and Quality Outcomes at Maine Medical Center and an adjunct associate professor at the University of Southern Maine. Ann Sossong, associate professor of Nursing at the University of Maine, Orono, and Hilary Speare, co-chairwoman of the Nursing Research and Evidence Based Resources Committee at Mid Coast Hospital, will also speak.
