BRUNSWICK — Muriel (Mickey) Bamforth Lebel, 89, of Brunswick passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 9, 2013 after a long illness.

She was born on April 3, 1923, the daughter of Coral and June Smith Bamforth and the youngest of five siblings. She attended Brunswick schools, graduating from Brunswick High School with the class of 1940.

She married Omer V. Lebel on September 1, 1941. With the start of World War II, she became a telephone operator for New England Telephone Company for seven years.

In 1960, she opened a beauty salon and worked as a stylist for 28 years. When she retired, she became a volunteer for Mid Coast Hospital and Respite Care.

Mickey enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to walk and took pleasure in seeing and visiting with her neighbors along the way. Her passions were reading, travel and, especially, her line dancing. She loved to dance. As a young child, she entertained her family and guests by singing and dancing while her mother played the piano. In her later years, she found friends who shared the joy of line dancing with her.

She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Omer V. Lebel, by her brother, Leon L. Bamforth and by her three sisters, Theresa Bamforth, Helene M. Adams and Elinor B. Favreau and by her grandson, Matthew T. Parker.

She is survived by her two daughters,

Valerie L. Howard and her husband Scott of Harpswell and Shirley L. Parker and her husband Thomas of Bowdoinham; grandchildren, Wendy Howard and her husband Aaron Smith, Amie Howard, Christopher Parker and his wife Joy and five great grandchildren.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude for the loving care that was given to Mickey by the staff at The Garden, Mid Coast Hospital Senior Health Center.
