FREEPORT — This spring, Maine innkeepers invite travelers to experience some of the state’s B&Bs, inns, hotels and resorts at half the usual rate.

“Hospitality for Habitat,” an annual Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity, will offer visitors 50 percent off room rates at participating hotels in exchange for a $35 donation made to Habitat for Humanity between April 22 and May 24.

Hospitality for Habitat has raised more than $100,000 to help build homes for Maine families since the program’s inception in 2004. Each year participating innkeepers and their guests have increased the donation made to Habitat for Humanity. In 2012, the association raised $17,000 for the nine Maine chapters of Habitat for Humanity.

“Innkeepers and guests both enjoy giving back to Maine communities, knowing that every dollar donated goes directly toward building a home,” said MEIA Executive Director Greg Dugal. “It is a wonderful opportunity for guests to visit some of Maine’s finest properties at greatly reduced rates.”

To take advantage of this opportunity, visit the Maine innkeepers web page at www.maineinns.com. Click on the Hospitality for Habitat logo for a frequently updated list of participating properties. Direct links to each property will provide information on specific room rates, availability, and individual property restrictions.

Reservations for accommodation between April 22 and May 23 should be made in advance and tax deductable donations for $35 should be given to the innkeeper, in the form of a check, written out to Habitat for Humanity.
