LEWISTON — Top-seeded Lewiston ended its march through the Eastern Class A boys’ hockey tournament with a 5-1 win over second-seeded Bangor at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Tuesday night.

The Devils (16-4-1) picked up where they left off in their first two games of the regional tournament, when they outscored Edward Little and Brunswick by a 19-1 margin, and never let the Rams (17-4) into the game.

Lewiston will play Falmouth (16-3-1) for the state championship at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Colisee.

The Devils turned four of their six shots during the first period into an early 4-0 lead.

Max Bolduc opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game when he stole the puck in the neutral zone and fired a shot from above the left hashmark past goalie Richard Powell for a goal.

About two minutes later, Kyle Ulrich scored an unassisted goal from the middle of the scrum in front of the Bangor net to make it 2-0.

Nine minutes into the game, Kyle Lemelin put a shot inside the left post after Evan Gosselin won a faceoff in the left circle.

With less than four minutes left in the period, Gosselin’s shot from the blue line eluded Powell’s grasp.

Lewiston took a 5-0 lead three minutes into the second period when defenseman Patrick DeBlois’ shot from the left point trickled in off Powell’s pads 15 seconds into the first power play of the game.

Bangor held a 21-16 edge in shots during the first two periods, but they were unable to get the puck past goalie Evan Bourassa, who had to make just 11 saves in his first two games in the regional tournament.

The Rams finally broke through early in the third period when Zeb Tuell popped in a rebound after Bourassa stopped Zach Papsadora’s shot from the top of the left circle.

Bourassa made seven of his 35 saves to kill off two Lewiston penalties early in the third period.
