SCARBOROUGH – Scarborough police arrested a man this week who allegedly gave tattoos to two 14-year-old girls at a motel.

According to a press release,Scarborough Police Department on March 28 executed a search warrant at a motel room at The Downeaster Motel, at 184 Route 1. A search warrant was obtained after two 14-year-old girls reported that they received tattoos by Joshua Grant, age 35, who was staying at the motel. Grant was not licensed to give tattoos and was charged with tattooing a minor, and tattooing without a license.

In Maine, it is illegal for a person to tattoo a minor who is under the age of 18. The person must also be licensed through the Department of Health and Human Services to practice the art of tattooing. ?

Grant was additionally charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful sexual contact, and assault resulting from the same investigation.

This investigation is still ongoing. If anyone else has had similar contact with Grant, police are asking them to contact Scarborough Police Department at 883-6361.
