PORTLAND – Thomas Leddy scored four goals and South Portland pulled away in the final two minutes Saturday night for a 13-10 boys’ lacrosse win over Cheverus at Deering High School.

Andrew Whipple chipped in with two goals and three assists for South Portland (3-0), which got the last three goals.

Cheverus (2-1) was led by Paul Lawson with five goals and Jack Sutton with three.

WINDHAM 7, BONNY EAGLE 6: Zach Callahan scored the go-ahead goal with just over two minutes left to lift the Eagles (2-0) over the Scots (1-2) at Standish.

Ryan Schweitzer and Griffin Jacobson led the Eagles with two goals apiece.

Windham’s Frank Taylor made 16 saves, included two in the final 30 seconds.

KENNEBUNK 12, WESTBROOK 1: Tyler Elkington scored four goals and assisted on four others as the Rams (3-0) cruised to a win over the Blue Blazes (0-2) at Westbrook.

Jacob Boothby also tallied four goals and Josh Hussey scored three times.

Sam Carroll scored for Westbrook.

GREELY 14, FREEPORT 4: Tim Adams scored five goals as the Rangers opened their season with a win at Freeport.

Greely also got four goals from Brendan Trelegan. Mitchel Mullin scored twice, and Fred Bower, Cassidy Jeffers and Gabe Belisle added a goal apiece.


RICHMOND SWEEPS VINALHAVEN: Eddie Stewart struck out 10, allowed just three hits and drove in three runs to lead Richmond to an 8-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader at Richmond.

The Bobcats (2-0) scored six runs in the second inning of Game 2 en route to a 12-2 victory. Stewart had a double, a single and two RBI.

Richmond broke open a scoreless game in the opener with five runs in the fifth, then added three in the sixth.

Mike Stewart pitched a two-hitter in the second game.


NOBLE 11, WESTBROOK 2: Molly Pritchett hit a three-run homer to lift the Knights (1-0) over the Blue Blazes (0-1) at North Berwick.

Amber Kelly took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and struck out nine with three walks.

Melody Bailey added a solo home run for the Knights.

Kayla Tibbetts drove in a run for Westbrook.

SOUTH PORTLAND 12, BONNY EAGLE 0: Erin Bogdanovich pitched a one-hitter and Olivia Endorf hit a three-run homer during an eight-run fifth inning to power the Red Riots (1-0) past the Scots (0-1) in a five-inning game at Standish.

Endorf also hit a triple, and Miranda Gleason doubled and tripled.

Breanna Lisland broke up the no-hitter with a fourth-inning single.

RICHMOND SWEEPS VINALHAVEN: Jamie Plummer pitched two strong games, including a no-hitter, and Kelsie Obi had three RBI to lead the Bobcats to a doubleheader sweep in Richmond, 12-0 and 13-1.

Plummer struck out seven and didn’t allow a hit in the opener, then fanned eight and yielded four hits in the second game.

Obi had a double, a single and three RBI in Game 2. Noell Acord had three hits and two RBI in the opener.


OAK HILL 12, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Kyle Flaherty scored six goals as the Raiders cruised past the Falcons at Wales.

Jon Averill added four goals and three assists, and Brian Daniels had a goal and an assist.

Mike Saunders also scored for the Raiders, Caleb Provost had two assists and Matty Martin made three saves.
