WESTBROOK — ‪A Westbrook police dog is being credited with saving a suicidal woman’s life.‬

Capt. Michael F. Nugent said police received reports around 10 p.m. Saturday about a suicidal person who ran into woods off Andover Road.‬

Nugent said police were told that the 25-year-old woman had tried to commit suicide earlier that night but ran from the people who were trying to help her.‬

Officer Phil Robinson and his police canine, Roxie, were able to track the woman into the wooded area and interrupt a second suicide attempt.‬

The woman was transported by ambulance to Maine Medical Center by Westbrook Rescue.‬

Nugent said “her life was undoubtedly saved due to Roxie’s involvement and the officer’s quick actions.”‬
