HAMPTON, N.H. — New Hampshire authorities say a team effort resulted in the rescue of three swimmers in the waters off Hampton Beach.
Hampton Deputy Fire Chief Jameson Ayotte says emergency responders were called to the beach just after 8 p.m. Thursday for a report of three struggling swimmers. Bystanders rescued one; two other were about 75 yards offshore in waters 10 to 15 feet deep.
Ayotte said two firefighters donned wetsuits and swam out with a police officer trained as a life guard. They were picked up by boat.
The swimmers were fatigued. They were not taken to a hospital.
