PORTLAND — Ten Maine airports are receiving federal grants for improvements and safety enhancements.

The Federal Aviation Administration awarded $5.1 million in grants to the Bethel Regional Airport, Northern Maine Regional Airport in Presque Isle, the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport, Bangor International Airport and the Greenville Municipal Airport.

Also receiving grants are the Brunswick Executive Airport, the Northern Aroostook Regional Airport, the Dewitt Field-Old Town Municipal Airport, the Wiscasset Airport and the Pittsfield Municipal Airport.

The money will be used for a variety of things including runway improvements, terminal construction and expansion, pavement markings and an environmental impact study.
