PORTLAND – Alex Frank drilled a header just under the crossbar seven minutes into the second half to break a scoreless tie and Portland went on to a 2-0 victory against Marshwood in an SMAA schoolboy soccer game Tuesday at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

The meeting was the Bulldogs’ fifth annual cancer awareness game.

Josh Irving sent a cross inside to Frank to set up the goal for Portland (7-1-1). Sam Farr collected a through pass from Jonathan Bobe and beat the keeper to the left side to make it 2-0 with 34 minutes gone in the second half.

Bobby Brittingham had no saves in goal for Portland. Sam Leathe finished with 15 saves for Marshwood (0-8-1).

SOUTH PORTLAND 5, BIDDEFORD 0: Robert Graff scored twice, and Dan Fox had a goal and two assists as South Portland (4-4) beat the Tigers (0-6-1) at Biddeford.

Andrew Whipple and Tristan Campbell also scored.

WINDHAM 1, BONNY EAGLE 1: Pradeep Buch scored with 1:41 left in regulation for Bonny Eagle (4-4-1), countering a first-half goal by Christian Hewitt of Windham (1-5-2) at Standish.

Buch received James Patchell’s free kick chipped into the box and slotted the ball to the lower right corner. Hewitt had scored with 5:11 left in the half.

CAMDEN HILLS 3. MT. VIEW 0: Grayson Szumilas and Josiah Sinkho scored second-half goals as the Windjammers (8-0) pulled away from Mt. View (4-3-1) at Rockport.

CHEVERUS 4, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Charlie Mull and James Biegel scored two goals each as Cheverus (5-2-1) shut out Thornton Academy (1-6-2) at Portland.

Biegel assisted on the winning goal by Mull after 15 minutes. The Stags added three goals in the second half.

CHOP POINT 3, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 1: Chop Point (6-1) took advantage of three set plays to score its goals against Greater Portland Christian (5-3-1) at Woolwich.

Ethan Spaulding scored for Greater Portland Christian off a corner kick taken by Ryan Waugh.

POLAND 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Shawn Murphy scored with 19 seconds left to lift Poland (1-7-1) over the Patriots (1-6) at Gray.

The Patriots took the lead with 25 minutes left when Tyler St Pierre assisted Eric Wilcox.

SCARBOROUGH 8, MASSABESIC 0: Wyatt Omsberg had two goals and two assists, and Jerry Kenney added two goals to lead the Red Storm (6-1) over Massabesic (2-6) at Scarborough.

Sam Cekada added a goal and two assists, and Andrew Morrissey a goal and an assist.

GORHAM 6, SANFORD 0: Tyler Richmond scored 10 minutes into the game and Gorham (7-1) went on to down the Spartans (1-6-1) at Sanford.

BRUNSWICK 3, CONY 0: Anna Cowan scored two goals to help Brunswick (4-3) defeat Cony (5-2) at Augusta.

DEERING 4, WESTBROOK 0: The Rams (7-1) broke a scoreless tie with three goals in less than two minutes midway through the second half, taking control against Westbrook (1-7) at Portland.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 4, BELFAST 0: Morgan Achorn had a goal and an assist, and Miranda Achorn made seven saves as Lincoln Academy (4-3-2) shut out Belfast (0-9) at Newcastle.

MORSE 1, OCEANSIDE 0: Savannah Simmons-Grover scored from beyond the penalty area 10 minutes into the second half as the Shipbuilders (7-2) downed Oceanside (5-2-1) at Bath.

MT. ARARAT 1, OXFORD HILLS 0: Libby Ouellette scored with 6.3 seconds left in overtime to lift Mt. Ararat (7-1) over Oxford Hills (3-2-2) at Topsham.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1, POLAND 0: Maria Valente scored five minutes into the game when her hard throw-in bounced off the goalie, and Gray-New Gloucester (2-5) beat the Knights (4-3) at Poland.
