PAXTON, Mass. – Jessica Capozzi and Hannah Leblanc scored just over three minutes apart midway through the first half Wednesday as St. Joseph’s blanked Anna Maria 2-0 in a women’s soccer game.

Capozzi scored off a corner kick from Whitney White 28:01 into the game and Desiree Parent assisted on Leblanc’s goal three minutes later for the Monks (9-1, 4-0 GNAC).

Jaci Lorenzen made four saves for the shutout as the Monks had a 33-4 advantage in shots over the AMCATS (4-5-1, 0-4). 

SMCC 0, NHTI 0: Sydney Proctor made seven saves to help the Seawolves (3-3-3, 2-2-2 YSCC) earn a tie with the Lynx at Concord, N.H.

MEN’S SOCCER

CLARK 3, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 2: Kyle Russo scored his second goal of the game with 14 minutes left to break a 2-2 tie and lift the Cougars (3-6-1) over the Nor’easters (4-4-2) at Biddeford.

Kyle McGlone and Sean Goodrich each scored for the Nor’easters, who twice rallied from one-goal deficits to tie the game. 

COLBY 2, THOMAS 1: Nate Tolman scored from Keith Chernin in the 68th minute to give the Mules (3-4) the advantage over the visiting Terriers (4-4-1) in the Elm City Bowl at Waterville.

In the first half, Thomas put Colby ahead with an own goal before tying it on a tally by Paul Rechichi. 

EASTERN CONNECTICUT 3, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Tim Jennison opened the scoring in the 25th minute and later added a pair of assists as the Warriors (7-1-1) defeated the Monks (7-3-1) at Willimantic, Conn. 

UM-FARMINGTON 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 3: Kafou Doumbia scored the go-ahead goal in the 83rd minute as the Beavers (2-4-1) scored three unanswered goals during a 23- minute span to rally past the Huskies (0-10-1) at Gorham.

The Huskies nearly tied the game three minutes later when Nat LeBlanc’s free kick hit the crossbar and T.J. Reagan’s header attempt off the rebound bounced off the crossbar.

Michael Daniel had one goal and one assist for the Huskies, and Caleb Leino and LeBlanc each scored one goal.

FIELD HOCKEY

UNE 5, NICHOLS 2: Hannah Warren scored twice ,and Hannah Tavella had a goal and two assists, helping the Nor’easters (5-4) beat the Bison (5-4) at Dudley, Mass.

Hayley LaPointe had three assists for UNE. 

COLBY 5, HUSSON 0: Natalie Fischer scored in the eighth minute and Megan Fortier had two goals in the second half as the Mules (5-2) rolled past the Eagles (6-3) at Bangor.

McKayla Blanch and Erika Johnson scored second-half goals.

FOOTBALL

ALABAMA: Coach Nick Saban suspended star safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix indefinitely for violating unspecified team rules.

Saban wouldn’t say what Clinton-Dix did wrong.
