PORTLAND – Wyatt Olmsberg scored in the first half Tuesday as Scarborough edged Deering 1-0 in a showdown of top SMAA boys’ soccer teams.

Olmsberg settled a pass from Ian Corey just inside the 18 and beat Deering keeper Anthony Russo one-on-one.

Scarborough (8-1) is tops in the Western Class A Heal point standings; Scarborough (8-2-1) is second.


YARMOUTH 6, FALMOUTH 1: Wyatt Jackson scored two goals to help the Clippers (8-0-2) overwhelm the Yachtsmen (4-4-2) at Falmouth.

Jackson and Adam Labrie scored in the first half to give the Clippers a 2-0 lead at intermission. Ben Vigue, Max Watson and Caio Sawaya provided second-half goals for the Clippers. Luke Velas scored Falmouth’s goal early in the second half.

Yarmouth keeper Alex Lyon made three saves on five shots. Will D’Agostino and Joel Boehm combined for 11 saves on 18 shots for Falmouth.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 4, POLAND 2: Forrest Chicoine’s two goals helped the Panthers (11-0) to a 4-0 halftime lead against the Knights (2-8-1) in Yarmouth.

B.J. Nicholas and Grayson Cohen also scored for NYA. Derek Michaud and Kyle Radziszweski tallied for the Knights.

NYA goalies Austin Kidder and Clayton Manchester combined for four saves. Cody Kostro had nine saves for Poland.

PORTLAND 1, GORHAM 1: Yusef Yama scored off a pass from Josh Irving midway through the second half as the Bulldogs (7-2-2) finished in a tie with the visiting Rams (7-2-1).

The Rams had taken the lead with 33:29 left in the second when Cody Elliott converted a pass through the middle from Cole Houghton.

Gorham keeper Matt Bennett finished with nine saves, and Bobby Brittingham handled seven for the Bulldogs.

BONNY EAGLE 4, WESTBROOK 2: James Patchell scored the first of his two goals on a penalty kick six minutes into the game as the Scots (5-4-1) scored four straight goals and held off the Blue Blazes (4-5-2) at Westbrook.

Josh Crowell and Ryan Kern added one goal apiece for Bonny Eagle.

Westbrook’s goals were scored by Elisah Gato and Varney Kai.

WAYNFLETE 2, FREEPORT 0: Elyse Bayizere had a goal and an assist as the Flyers (7-2) scored twice against the Falcons (3-6-1) in the first half in Portland.

Bayizere set up Henry Cleaves for a goal just over four minutes into the game. He then converted Jack Weston’s assist midway through the half.

Waynflete goalie Milo Belleau made two saves for the shutout. Falcons keeper Brendan Qualls had seven saves.

KENNEBUNK 1, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Capers goalie Austin Andrews and Kennebunk’s Stuart Wolff-Goodrich each had five saves at Cape Elizabeth.

Ryan Keefe put the Rams (5-3-3) ahead three minutes into the game, poking home the rebound of a saved corner kick. Eddie Galvin tied the game for Cape Elizabeth (2-4-4), scoring off a corner kick with nine minutes left in regulation.

YORK 0, GREELY 0: York goalie Adam Legg made 11 saves and Greely keeper Alex McAdoo stopped seven as the Wildcats (3-2-6) and the Rangers (8-1-2) played to a scoreless tie at Cumberland.

SANFORD 1, MARSHWOOD 1: Hanssen Casey scored a goal and Sam Leathe made 10 saves for the Hawks (0-9-2) as they played to a draw against the Spartans (1-7-2) at South Berwick.

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 8, ISLESBORO 1: Ethan Spaulding scored five goals, including a header off John Konzal’s foot throw, to power the Lions (6-3-1) past the Eagles (2-7) in Islesboro.

David Davol notched a goal and two assists, and Jeremiah Hammond and John Kong added the other two goals. Ryan Waugh and Konzal each assisted on two goals. Hadley O’Malia scored for Islesboro.

Mason Jones made three saves for the win; Devin Small stopped 17 for Islesboro.

WINDHAM 1, MASSABESIC 0: Christian Hewitt scored 3:47 in the second half, providing all the scoring as the Eagles (3-5-2) beat the Mustangs (2-8) during Massabesic’s Breast Cancer Awareness game in Waterboro.

CHEVERUS 1, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Andrei Vile scored on a free kick from about 40 yards out late in the first half and the Stags (7-2-1) held on for a win over the Red Riots (5-5) at South Portland.

Charlie Mull finished with eight saves to record the shutout for the Stags and South Portland keeper Henry Curran stopped four shots.

WELLS 6, LAKE REGION 0: T.J. Wright scored a pair of goals and also had an assist as the Warriors (2-9) cruised past the Lakers (0-11) at Wells.

Nick Ramsey added one goal and two assists for Wells, and Tyler Dewey, Tyler Whitten and Tommy Cryer each scored once.

ERSKINE ACADEMY 6, MCI 0: Matt Cleary had two goals as the Eagles improved to 9-1 with a KVAC B win over the Huskies (1-9) in South China.

WATERVILLE 5, MT. VIEW 2: Tommy Samson scored three goals to lead the Panthers (7-3-1) past the Cougars (4-5-1) at Waterville.

Kaleb Kane added a pair of goals for Waterville.

ST. DOMINIC 0, CARRABEC 0: Trent Richardson was strong in goal as the Cobras (3-4-2) earned a tie with the Saints (10-0-1) in North Anson.
