Nestled in the rolling hills of southern Maine farm country, Pineland Farms is just 30 minutes from Portland. At Pineland, the beauty of the White Mountains is visible to the west as picturesque Maine farmland surrounds you. As the colors burst to life around us, Pineland Farms offers the perfect vantage point to soak in the beauty of a New England autumn day.

During the month of October, Pineland Farms is offering several exciting hands-on learning opportunities for families.

Monday Story Hour takes place weekly at the Market from 10 to 11 a.m. This is a great opportunity for preschoolers to practice their social skills while enjoying a few stories and a snack.

Friday on the Farm happens every Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Families have a chance to explore what life on a farm is like. You will collect eggs, learn about caring for farm animals and even milk a cow.

On Oct. 23, 28 and 29, consider visiting Pineland to carve jack-o-lanterns with friends and learn all about growing pumpkins.

While visiting the farm, be sure to stop by the Market. The Market at Pineland Farms offers a mouth-watering array of locally sourced produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods, as well as a great selection of beer, wine and gift ideas.

The fall season at Pineland is highlighted by the Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25. The fun begins at 2 p.m., with tractors to explore, a hay bale maze, fall-themed crafts and games, face painting and a farm picture booth. You will learn to make apple cider, brush a bunny and milk a cow.

The day will be capped off with Harvest Hayrides (fun, not scary) at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. along with a complimentary showing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” at 6:30 p.m. The brave among you won’t want to miss the first Halloween Hayride at Pineland Farms (fun and scary) at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The natural beauty of Pineland Farms and an extensive list of family events make Pineland Farms one of Maine’s best family destinations.
