BRUNSWICK — People Plus kicked off its 5th Annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program this month, which runs through the end of the year.

“The goal again this year is to collect at least 1,000 items, or a total weight of 1,000 pounds, or both,” said member services coordinator Frank Connors.

Through Dec. 31, People Plus will accept non-perishable food products and ensure that they are tallied and delivered to MCHPP.

The community food bank lists canned tuna, baked beans, canned soup, peanut butter, canned fruit, canned vegetables and “helper” mixes as its most needed items, along with seasonal items such as boxed instant potatoes, canned gravy, and cranberry sauce.

Food delivered to People Plus will be counted and weighed for volume when delivered.

Items will be collected 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday- Thursday at 35 Union St.
