“Alchemy of Light,” an exhibit featuring new work from members of the Maine Artists Collective, opens Friday at Constellation Gallery, 511 Congress St. in Portland.
The exhibit will showcase paintings, photography, mixed media and digital art. For the exhibit, artists were asked to explore and interpret light as the source of all color and what it reveals in form and texture.

The show runs through Dec. 29. An artists’ reception will be held from 5 to 8 pm. Dec. 6. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday to Sunday.
The mission of the Maine Artists Collective is to connect the public with Maine artists and support development by providing exhibition and studio space, education and professional workshops.
