SCARBOROUGH — North American Landscaping, Construction and Dredging Co., of Ellicott City, Md., was awarded a $1.7 million bid Monday to dredge the Scarborough River channel from its mouth to beyond the Pine Point Pier.
The dredged sand will be used to replenish Ferry and Western beaches. The work needs to be finished by March, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers documents.
The dredging is funded by federal disaster relief funds allocated after Hurricane Sandy, which struck on Oct. 31, 2012.
Project Manager Michael Walsh does not know when the work will begin, according to an email sent to Scarborough Town Manager Tom Hall on Tuesday.
