The Hannaford store in Topsham has recalled ground beef sold at the store on Saturday.
Small metal clips used in food packaging in an area where beef was ground that morning were detected at mid-day Saturday, according to a company news release. The store has removed all the ground beef made that morning. If customers bought ground beef at the store Saturday with a “use or freeze date” of Dec. 16, they are asked to return it for a full refund, the news release said.
The ground beef includes 90 percent, 85 percent and 73 percent lean sold in packages that range from one-half pound to five pounds.
