PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Sophomore Morgan Cahill scored 21 points and collected 12 rebounds to lead St. Joseph’s College to a 61-52 women’s basketball win over Johnson & Wales on Monday.

Senior Abby Young had 12 points and Lindsay Moore added 10 for the Monks (11-3, 3-0 GNAC).

(2) NOTRE DAME 86, (11) TENNESSEE 70: Kayla McBride scored 22 points to lead five players in double figures as Notre Dame erased an early 12-point deficit to win at Knoxville, Tenn.

(4) STANFORD 80, (14) ARIZONA STATE 56: Chiney Ogwumike scored 30 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Cardinal (17-1, 6-0 Pac-12) won at Tempe, Ariz.


SMCC 115, NORTHERN MAINE CC 67: Scott Proudman and Joe Nouchanthavong scored 16 points each to lead Southern Maine Community College (9-1) over Northern Maine Community College (2-5) at Presque Isle.


The Seawolves had five players in double figures, including Tong Akot with 13, Justin Robbins 12 and Atencio Martin with 11.

JOHNSON & WALES 71, ST. JOSEPH’S 61: The Wildcats (12-4, 8-1 GNAC) won their 11th straight game by beating St. Joseph’s (7-8, 6-2), at Providence, R.I., avenging a loss on Dec. 3.

Matthew Medeiros finished with 21 points for the Monks, Steve Simonds added 15 and Nicholas Jobin scored 12 and pulled down 11 rebounds.

CREIGHTON 96, (4) VILLANOVA 68: Ethan Wragge tied a school record with nine 3-pointers for all of his 27 points, Doug McDermott hit five 3s and Creighton (16-3, 6-1 Big East) set a team mark with 21 3-pointers in an upset at Philadelphia.

NEBRASKA 68, (17) OHIO STATE 62: Shavon Shields and Terran Petteway each scored 18 points to lead the Cornhuskers (9-8, 1-5 Big Ten) to an upset of struggling Ohio State (15-4, 2-4) at Omaha, Neb.
