BRUNSWICK — Ariana Bourque and Colleen Finnerty combined Friday night to lead the Bowdoin women’s hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Trinity.

Both skaters played fine all-around games, each collecting a goal and an assist. At the other end of the ice, netminder Beth Findley turned aside 26 shots.

Bowdoin improves to 9-8-2 overall and 4-5-2 in NESCAC while Trinity is 10-6-3 and 5-5-1.

CASTLETON 4, USM 1: The Spartans (12-8-2, 7-4-2 ECAC East) got goals from four players to blank the Huskies (10-11-1, 7-7) at Rutland, Vt.

Cassandra Sherman scored the lone goal for USM. Nia Kelly tied a season high with 30 saves.

UNE 3, FRANKLIN PIERCE 2: Mary Wirth scored with 2:46 remaining to lift the Nor’easters (6-10-4) over the Ravens (17-3-1) at Biddeford.

Jenni Poulin and Gabby Crugnale scored first-period goals, for UNE, which ended a seven-game skid. Samantha Scobee stopped 18 of 19 shots in nearly 43 minutes after relieving injured starter Courtney Kendall.

MEN’S HOCKEY

BABSON 2, UNE 1: Mike Driscoll scored with 33 seconds left in overtime to lead the fifth- ranked Beavers (18-3-1, 12-2-1 ECAC East) over the Nor’easters (8-13-1, 5-10) at Babson Park, Mass.

David Goff scored a short-handed goal for UNE in the first period.

BOWDOIN 3, HAMILTON 2: The Polar Bears (12-5-2, 7-5-1 NESCAC) scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Continentals (4-11-3, 3-8-2) at Clinton, NY. A short-handed goal by Colin Downey and goals by Matt Rubinoff and Harry Matheson completed the comeback.

AMHERST 6, COLBY 2: Andrew Kurlandski had a goal and two assists to help the Jeffs (12-6-1, 10-3 NESCAC) beat the Mules (9-7-3, 6-6-1) at Amherst, Mass.

Topher Flanagan and Brendan Burke added a goal and an assist apiece for Amherst. Ben Chwick and Nick Lanza scored for Colby.

UMASS-BOSTON 3, USM 2: Stephen Buco scored with 7:56 left to give the Beacons (15-4-3, 8-4-3 ECAC East) the edge on the Huskies (5-12-5, 4-9-2) at Boston.

Mike Greene and Alex Pompeo scored for Southern Maine, and Dylan Wells made 37 saves.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

WILLIAMS 92, BATES 70: Michael Mayer scored 25 points, Duncan Robinson had 16 points and six assists, and the Ephs (18-3, 6-1 NESCAC) downed the Bobcats (11-10, 1-6) at Williamstown, Mass.

Williams scored the first 12 points of the second half to open a 61-44 advantage.

Mike Boornazian scored 18 points for Bates. Graham Safford added 11.

MIDDLEBURY 85, COLBY 64: Joey Kizel had a game-high 30 points to lead the Panthers (14-7, 4-3 NESCAC) over the Mules (12-9, 3-5) at Middlebury, Vt. He had six 3-pointers and nine assists. Colby was led by Chris Hudnut’s 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

(6) VILLANOVA 70, SETON HALL 53: James Bell scored 20 points and JayVaughn Pinkston had 19 to lead host Villanova to its fifth straight victory.

Villanova Coach Jay Wright reached 400 career victories.

Daniel Ochefu had 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, including the game-changing buckets in the first half for Villanova (21-2, 9-1 Big East).

Sterling Gibbs led Seton Hall (13-10, 4-6) with 16 points

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

WILLIAMS 84, BATES 45: Kellie Macdonald led four scorers in double figures as the Ephs (19-2, 5-2 NESCAC) defeated the Bobcats (7-14, 0-7) at Williamstown, Mass. Meredith Kelly scored a team-high 13 points for Bates while Allie Coppola had her sixth double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

COLBY 79, MIDDLEBURY 61: Caryanne Wolfington scored 26 points to lead the Mules (7-15, 1-7 NESCAC) over the Panthers at Middlebury Vt. Mia Diplock added a personal high of 24 points.
