“It’s very exciting, I’m ecstatic,” said Maker, who missed her senior year after suffering a knee injury. “There was a lot of talk about my career being done, so this feels good to prove to everybody I can do it. U. Maine was my first choice. I’m a homebody. I want to be close to my parents. I was lucky to find a coach willing to take a chance on me. It’s a good program. It will be interesting to see how I fit in. I expect to be back to 100 percent by next season.”

“I first looked at around 15 schools, then dwindled it down to three and I decided at the end that Stonehill’s the best fit academically and athletically,” said Murray. “I’m happy with my choice. Running is my passion. I didn’t like it at first, but I grew into it. I just want to continue. They have a very good program.”

Both girls said that their time at Cheverus helped pave the way to great things.

“My coaches have helped me so much in pursuing my passion,” said Murray.

“I don’t think I’ll ever have better teammates than I had at Cheverus or with my (Seacoast) Premier team,” said Maker.
