In the May 24 Press Herald (“VA scandal makes way into Maine governors race”), Rep. Mike Michaud “repeated calls made on the House floor for (President) Obama to sign an executive order implementing the reforms outlined in his bill. He made the request in a formal letter to the president Thursday. ‘I know the president has expressed outrage at the ongoing problems at the VA and this is one opportunity where he can deal with issues immediately so he does not have to wait for Congress to act.’ ”

I appreciate the fact that Rep. Michaud is trying to get something done, but I’m outraged that Congress is so dysfunctional that a member of Congress actually suggests the president go around Congress to get something accomplished.

This is certainly not what our Founding Fathers had envisioned.
