It’s a mostly cloudy morning and there is still the risk of showers and even a thunderstorm, but the bulk of the day is dry and I wouldn’t cancel any plans. The best chance of showers will be before 5PM and then the risk diminishes after the front goes by. There is still the opportunity for an evening t-storm, so just be aware of the sky and check your favorite radar app on your smart phone. I’ll update what I am seeing on my Twitter account as much as I can today. The image below shows where there is clearing already and where the clouds are still thick.

The main risk of the storms is heavy rain. While the showers won’t be widespread, if you do get one they are going to douse you with quite a bit of rain in a short period of time.

There’s so much great weather information available to everyone now, you can at least see if the showers are moving in your direction. The best thing to do is loop the image to see how it is moving and whether the area seems to be growing or diminishing. Remember, reds and orange colors are heavy rain or thunderstorms and green and blue colors are lighter rainfall. I put some annotation on the image below to help you interpret the radar later today.

Skies won’t clear completely in all areas, but the further west you live the better chance you have of seeing a nice late afternoon and early evening period. Highs will be reached late in the day in the upper 60s to mid 70s.
Overnight the air will turn cooler and noticeably drier and you’ll be able to sleep with the windows open.

Father’s day is looking great with an abundance of sunshine and mild air. Highs will be in the 70s with some low 80s over interior York, Cumberland and Oxford Counties. As an added bonus there won’t be any noticeable humidity.
Earlier yesterday one of the models was trying to indicate the clouds and showers might linger into Sunday, but that isn’t going to happen and we are looking at a great day.

Monday looks dry and sunny and quite comfortably warm. There is another front approaching for Tuesday and this brings the chance of scattered showers. (we aren’t going to see any drought this summer if this pattern keeps up). The front then stalls close to the region later in the week. There is going to be very hot and humid air over the mid-Atlantic region, but I suspect it won’t make it into New England this time.
