The thoughtful June 23 editorial (“Our View: To ease student loan burden, rein in college costs”) was excellent, and I would like to add some suggestions:

We seem to like record-keeping for sports. How about scores for school performance, too? Specifically, let’s ask colleges to report how much they are lowering their costs each year.

Also, we should all know what percentage of their graduates are able to pay back their student loans on time. Why not tie college loan requests for next year to how well their students paid back this year?
