Regarding the sale of House Island (“Maine island with storied past set for new chapter,” July 9): What a shame if the buyer tears down the remaining buildings on the island, which hold a lot of history pertaining to immigrants to the Northeast.

Yes, build vacation homes, but keep the history of the island by having a museum within one of the buildings, keeping “the Ellis Island of the North” alive.

Knowledge of the history of the area is so important for generations to come.
