My Place Teen Center has chosen Savanna Jackson as its August Member Spotlight. Member Spotlight is an opportunity for My Place Teen Center teens to be recognized by staff and their peers for their contributions to the My Place community. Savanna is new to My Place Teen Center, but she has quickly become a great member of the MPTC family. According to the staff, Savanna was selected to be this month’s Member Spotlight because she is kind, helpful and a good role model for her peer group. She is always willing to chip in, and participates in group activities. She answered a few questions about herself.

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I will be starting seventh grade at Westbrook Middle School. I am not sure who my teacher will be yet, but I will be in Team Presumpscot.

Q: How long have you lived in Westbrook?

A: I have been in Westbrook most of my life.

Q: Who do you live with?

A: I live with my mom and dad and my younger brother, who also comes to the teen center.

Q: How long have you been coming to the teen center?

A: I am new to the teen center. I just started coming this summer, so a little over a month.

Q: What are your favorite things to do at the teen center?

A: I like to hang out with my friends, play games, and play the Wii. I also really enjoy the cooking programs.

Q: What are your favorite things to do in your free time?

A: I like to play outside with my friends. I am really enjoying this summer vacation.

Q: What are you looking forward to doing this summer?

A: My family is going to be taking a trip to New Hampshire to visit the Flume Gorge.

Q: What are your favorite movies and music?

A: My favorite movie is “Mary Poppins,” and my favorite music is rap.
