I’m impressed with Shenna Bellows, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate here in Maine. She has a working-class background and, unlike Republican Susan Collins, favors raising the minimum wage to $10 an hour.

Putting Shenna Bellows in the Senate would help pass the bill in Congress to increase the minimum wage. Nearly 100,000 Mainers who are struggling to stay solvent in today’s economy would benefit from increased earnings. Let’s face it: Wages haven’t kept up with inflation.

Adam Smith once wrote, “A man must always live by his work, and his wages must at least be sufficient to maintain him.” Shenna Bellows agrees – a good day’s work deserves a decent wage.

Please join me in voting for Shenna Bellows in November to give a hand up to America’s working families.
