Haven’s Candies announced Tuesday that Freeport resident Erin Collins has purchased the company from Andy Charles, and has become the new president and CEO.

Haven’s, which will celebrate its 100th year in business in 2015, has been under Charles’ ownership since 2001, when he became the sixth person to run the company. According to Tuesday’s press release, Charles grew the company to three locations, including its headquarters in Westbrook, and has expanded nationally.

The company’s headquarters on County Road is known as the factory store, where the business produces all of its confections by hand.

Charles told the American Journal in July that Haven’s has revenues in excess of $2 million per year and sees more than 60,000 customers annually. Haven’s other retail stores are in Portland and Scarborough.

None of the company’s 28 employees will be affected by the change, according to the release.

During his tenure, Charles has focused on expanding the “corporate gifts” division of the business as well, which produces custom gifts for businesses on a national level. Charles said in July that this portion of Haven’s business had doubled in size over the last decade, and is continuing to grow.

Charles will remain with the company for several months to help with the transition. A member of the National Retail Federation, Charles was previously nominated for an award known as “America’s Retail Champion.”

Collins is an Ellsworth native.

Haven’s is inviting the public to meet Collins at the company’s annual Columbus Day open house on Monday, Oct. 13, at the Westbrook location.
