LEWISTON — Freshman Maeve Arthur scored the game’s lone goal as the Brunswick High School girls soccer team slipped past Lewiston, 1-0, in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play on Thursday.

Kira Wolpow assisted on Arthur’s goal which ended the five-game winning streak of the Blue Devils.

Madeline Brescia had seven saves in the Brunswick (5-3-1) net, while Kelsey St. Cyr turned aside eight shots for Lewiston. The Dragons, who host Hampden Academy on Saturday, outshot the Blue Devils, 14-8.

“Another outstanding game from our perspective,” said Brunswick coach Martyn Davison. “We are passing so well and playing some great stuff. We need to keep improving but the signs are there as the team is coming together nicely.

Deliah Schrieber scored a breakaway goal in the first half to lift the Greyhounds to a Mountain Valley Conference win at North Anson.

Schrieber’s goal came with 28:26 left until halftime, and goaltender Ali Sult had five saves for the shutout.

Lisbon improved to 7-1-2 and hosts Hall-Dale in key contest on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

RICHMOND 1

Kelsea Anair scored on penalty kick midway through the opening half as the Bobcats won a battle of unbeatens over Sacopee Valley (8-1) in non-conference action.

Autumn Acord was taken down inside the penalty area, and Anair calmly fired the PK past Hawks goaltender Madison Day, who had eight saves.

Kelsie Obi had 12 saves for Richmond, which hosts Greenville on Tuesday (4 p.m.). Camryn Hurley, Cassidy Harriman, Jade Gammon and Destiny Anair played well on defense for the Bobcats.

FREEPORT 3
N. YARMOUTH 0

Freeport freshman Becca Cameron scored her first two varsity goals for the Falcons en route to a Western Maine Conference victory over the North Yarmouth Academy Panthers (1-8-1).

The Falcons have had trouble putting the ball in the back of the net during the season, but were able to score three times on 17 shots. Cameron’s first goal was assisted by Julia Smith, while the second went unassisted. Smith scored the final goal off a pass from Brooklyn Washburn.

Izzy Qualls was in net for the Falcons, stopping three of the Panthers’ five shots.

Freeport will visit Wells on Tuesday (6 p.m.).

Field Hockey

NEWPORT — The Morse High School field hockey team (1-9) dropped a tough 7-0 KVAC match against Nokomis (3-6-1) on Thursday.

The Shipbuilders fired six shots on net, while goaltender Bryanna Ringrose stopped 15.
